LOCAL ATTRACTIONS
Woodhall Spa is enjoyable in itself as an inland resort set
amongst attractive pine woods in the centre of Lincolnshire. In the 19th century a medicinal spring was
discovered which helped the town to become a fashionable haven for
the health-conscious Victorians. The pump room building still
exists but is no longer in use. |
|
No holiday would be complete without a visit to
the Kinema in the Woods
, one of the country's earliest cinemas and the only one
which uses a back-projection system. |
 |
Although the RAF's 617 Squadron, the Dambusters,
was originally based at RAF Scampton, they eventually moved to
Woodhall Spa which now has a memorial to the squadron. |
 |
The town's central location makes it an ideal base from which to explore. Within easy reach is the historic city of
Lincoln with its
magnificent cathedral, fortress-like Norman castle, quaint streets and bustling shopping centre. Here you can take a boat trip along the
Fossdyke Canal
originally built by the Romans! |
 |
From Woodhall Spa you can also visit the Lincolnshire Wolds, or the many coastal resorts and villages of the county such as
Skegness,
Chapel-St Leonards,
Sutton-on-Sea,
Mablethorpe, and to
the south-east the attractive town of
Boston.
